Separated/Divorced Families
For any family where parents are separated or divorced, the parent authorizing treatment and bringing the child into our office to be seen is responsible to us for payment and this payment is due when services are rendered as per our payment policies. In the case that only a copay is due at the time of service, any charges deemed by your insurance as patient responsibility are due to ABC Pediatrics PC by the parent who authorized the treatment and attended the office visit.
If a divorce decree requires both parents to split any medical charges incurred, it is the authorizing parent's responsibility to collect reimbursement from the other parent. ABC Pediatrics will NOT act as a mediator in collecting payments. If the account balance is not resolved as per our payment policies, your child's account will be referred to our collection agency with the authorizing parent listed as the debtor.
